once there were four children // Narnian linkup

~*~

I was catching up on some of the blogs I follow when I stumbled on this Narnian linkup from the Book Chewers. These are my most favourite books in the whole wide world - have I said that before? well, they are - and I can't wait to share them with all of you.

1. Who introduced you to Narnia?
When I was six years old and searching the house for something to read, I picked up The Magician's Nephew and brought it to Mom, asking if I could read it. She wasn't really sure I'd like it, but she said yes...
it took me over a year, but I made it through all seven books, and Narnia's been a part of me ever since.

2. How many times did you check the back of your OWN wardrobe for signs of magical life?
Up until a few years ago, we didn't have any wardrobes in the house. When my parents finally got one, yes, I may have cracked the door, just to check...

3. Who's your favourite animal Narnian character?

Aslan. I have always, ALWAYS loved Aslan. (I feel like picking him miiight be cheating, though, so I'll be fair and say that I've always loved Bree, from The Horse and His Boy. Also, I'm rather fond of Puzzle from The Last Battle.)

4. Who's your favourite human Narnian character?

Probably Edmund. And Lucy. And, oh, funny story. When I was maybe seven years old, I swore to my best friend that I was going to marry Prince Caspian.

5. If you could fall into one of the seven books, which would you choose?

Ummmmm....hmmm...prob'ly the Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. It's always been my favourite book.
(or maybe Prince Caspian, haha. It's a close second.)

6. Which would you rather be: dwarf, talking beast, or marshwiggle?
Talking beast! Marshwiggles are too gloomy. (sorry, Puddleglum!)

7. Who do you think had the harder quest? The journey on the Dawn Treader with Prince Caspian? OR Eustace and Jill's trek to find the lost Prince Rilan?
Eustace and Jill had the harder job, I think. They knew a lot less about Narnia than the Pevensies did, plus their guide was...gloomy. And they spent a lot of time in foul weather.

8. Which of the 4 Pevensie children (Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy) do you most relate to?
Although Lucy and Edmund are my favourites, I probably relate more to Peter, especially now that I'm older. We're both the oldest sibling, and re-reading some of my favourite parts I can understand his frustration with his younger brother and sisters. ☺
Also, honesty time: although I hate to admit it, I see a lot of myself in Susan, too. (She was never one of my favourites.)

9. If being out of a family of 4, going to boarding school, and living in England are necessary for having a Narnian adventure, how well do you score?

Oh dear. Well, I have two siblings, which is close to three. It's close, guys, so I get half a point. I've never been to boarding school, and I've never lived in England (although my dad was born in Wales! Another half point!) So. I think that puts me safely at 1/3 points.
Also please notice how excellent I am at math.

10. Would you sell your soul for Turkish Delight?
I have never eaten Turkish Delight. I KNOW. It actually makes me so sad. (I didn't even know what it was when I was reading the books for the first time: for some reason I thought it was meat.) Anyway. I've always wanted to try Turkish Delight, but alas. Would I sell my soul for some? Probably not. But I'd give you a really big hug if you got me some for my birthday.

...well! That was fun! If you've never read the Chronicles of Narnia, you should definitely go do that RIGHT NOW. Otherwise, pop over and read some of the Book Chewers' posts! They've got a Narnia theme this month, it's pretty sweet.

Cheerio!

  1. I had so much fun reading this! It's so awesome to find out that other people share my love for these beautiful books. :)

Oh, and it's incredible that you read them at such a young age (at that age the best I could do was 'Frog and Toad' and 'Hop on Pop'!).

  2. Haaa! I love your half points! ;) That tooootally counts! Aslan is pretty awesome, but I loved Bree so much. He was like an epic best friend with just enough flaws to make him relatable (although, sometimes he did act a bit stuck up). Puzzle made me incredibly sad. :(( I wish he'd stood up for himself. Thanks for linking up with us!
