hymns

I've never really liked hymns.

Actually, that's a complete lie. Sorry. I'll start again. Over the past few years, hymns haven't been my most favourite kind of music. At all. Period.

(that's better.)

But anyways, long story short, last year while during a music assignment for school, I stumbled across a decent recording of my one of the few hymns I actually liked. I'm pretty sure (if I'm remembering correctly!) it actually made me cry.

And then I moved on and completed the assignment and forgot about it, until last week when I was doing my devotions. (little bunny trail here: reading the Bible in an empty house is pretty much the most relaxing/fulfilling/wonderful thing ever.) But yeah, I came across this hymn again and loved it, and listened to a few more by the same artist, and wow.

(trying hard not to bombard you with videos right now)

And I don't know, maybe they don't do anything for you...but I can't stop listening to them. I can't really describe it, but there's something so soothing about them...you know that feeling you get when you heave a sigh from the tips of your toes? Or when you take a drink after you've been thirsty all day? That's what listening to them feels like, and I can't even explain why.

but anyhow. Cool. you know. It's Thanksgiving weekend here in Canada, so I'm looking forward to that...also, no homework (again!) I finished it all earlier today, which was sweet. Ummmbiddibumbiddiboo. What else is happening in my life? I've been waking up early to catch my bus, which is not awesome. I appreciate my bed now more than ever before. And the couch. I love our couches.
Hm. It just feels like it's been a while since I blogged, like I'm kind of not here anymore, even when I'm posting. wait, that sounds stupid and way too introspective. Sorry. Long day.

I should do this more often.

Post, I mean, not ramble. I do that plenty often enough.

(don't kill me, Mr. G. I used bad grammar on purpose.)

  2. I feel the same way about hymns, love the lyrics and the meaning but sometimes I prefer something a bit more toe tapping if you know what I mean. My favorite hymn CD is Jesus, Firm Foundation. It's a compilation of modernized hymns by a lot of different artists, I definitely recommend checking it out. Have fun on your break from school!

  3. it's so awesome how things like this come across our paths when we're least expecting it. alsoooo gee your blog title is super sweet, and it made me happy because I've actually heard the word "cwtch" before and love it and it made me excited to see it. hehe.

  4. I am a very musical person and I totally get what you mean about the whole "sensation" thing :). I love the worship songs that built to a peak which seems to vibrate inside of you. I only recently discovered your blog (I am friends with Morgan) and just wanted to let you know that I really enjoy reading your posts! Although I'm not familiar with "cwtch" so, I'll have to look it up :).

  5. Those songs are lovely! I love hymns at church...but I don't often listen to them just for fun at home, partly because it's hard to find artists that I enjoy listening to. But I really like this! Thanks for sharing. :)
