I was planning to share a larger excerpt from my novel after reaching my goal of 50,000 words (woop woop!) but after I decided I was done for the day, I didn't have the energy to search the whole book and find something good enough for public view. Lolz. So, instead, I'm going to share with you a short story that I wrote wayyy back in summer 2013, which was when I started thinking about the characters for this book.
I stumbled upon it by accident a few days ago (during one of my bouts of serious procrastination, oopsie) and thought, 1. woah, I forgot this existed, and 2. okay, I need to share this. So here's a link to the original blog post where I shared the story, called i have loved the stars. (for those of you who may be confused, it takes place before the accident that leaves Skylar, my main character, deaf.)

Well, now I need a break. I'm putting my novel to bed for today... we'll see what happens tomorrow. Thanks for walking this journey with me - and for being so supportive, especially on my last recap post! I was not being "a good little writer and staying off the internet," as Danielle so eloquently put it, so I read your encouragement in real time and SO appreciated it.

Love to all,
Olivia
P.S. who else completed NaNo? Or participated in NaNo? Whoever you are, and whatever your word count, let's celebrate!!

    1. Thanks, Alex! NaNo definitely doesn't work for everyone... I just find it motivates me to sit down and write something, anything; it's freeing to throw away all expectations of good quality, and a lot of the time I'm super surprised at what comes out when I'm down to the wire and fighting for my goal. :p

  6. Congratulations!

It's weird how sometimes when you write really fast for a deadline the writing is way better than you expected.

I hope you have a lovely break and then sit back down and finish your book. :)

    1. WHOA. WHOAWHOAWHOWANFKDKSNCSSKJKJCMKS. (um, can you tell that I just finished reading it? WHOA.) I have not been that fully absorbed in a piece of writing in SO LONG. Like...oh my gosh. That was absolute magic, Olivia. Ya hear? MAGIC. The descriptions were so raw and beautiful and they just took me to another world. I felt so connected to these characters and now I want to read more about them. ♥ THAT WAS AMAZING. "...you were looking at a picture you didn’t realize was blurry until the photographer pulled it into focus." < LIKE WHAAAT? You are so talented, girl. SO TALENTED. I will buy every book you write.

      love,
      abbiee
