the end of summer [goals]

Since today is my last summer weekday before school starts (can I get a "yikes"?) I thought I'd better figure out how I did on my summer goals. Just...wow, guys. Tuesday is the Big Day.
I hope I don't get lost.

Reading

I'm sorry to say that although I have been reading lots, I have not made one single page of progress on the seven books on my list.

-Les Miserables (Victor Hugo)
-The Book Thief (Marcus Zusak)

-Bonhoeffer: Pastor, Martyr, Prophet, Spy (Eric Metaxes) I got halfway through and gave up.
-The Tempest (William Shakespeare)
-A Midsummer Night's Dream (Shakespeare)
-Sense and Sensibility (Jane Austen)

-The Story Girl (L.M. Montgomery)

Overall, I am pleased with the amount of reading that I got done, and the books that I did read were good ones (some of the titles I got through were Ender's Game, Death Comes to Pemberley, the Chronicles of Kings series, and I'm currently working on L.M. Montgomery's last work, The Blythes are Quoted.)

So I'm going to give myself a 7/10 stars.

Writing

My goal kind of changed as the summer went on, but I got tons accomplished. I wanted to write a 20,000 word short story for a contest I'd like to enter, and BAM, that's done. I'm editing now. I've also been keeping up to my weekly word goal of 5,000 words (mostly, that is. When I don't write enough, I've been writing short stories based on the punishment prompts Keira gives me.) But the important thing is that I've been writing thousands of words every week (most weeks,) and I'm so pleased with what I got done over these past few months.

10/10.

Take Pictures

All I have to say for this one is "meh." I did, and I didn't. My camera was there, and I used it...and sometimes I forgot it existed. There's really nothing more to say.

5/10

Spend Time Outside

With all the time I spent on the beach (we went to visit family a lot this summer) not to mention soccer, and the time I spent reading outside near the beginning of the summer, I'm satisfied with the way this played out. Especially all the walking I got to do on the beach. I even ran a couple of times (although jogging in wet sand KILLED my calves the next day. Holp.)

8/10

Pass My NLS and WSI Courses

As I said before, I've already passed NLS, and WSI just wasn't a possibility for me this summer. I'm still going to say I completed this goal, although I won't give myself a full ten stars...just nine. ☺

9/10

If my math is correct (thank goodness I don't have Functions until second semester!!) I think I averaged out at 7.8/10 stars for the summer. Not too bad!

Did you get a lot done this summer?

    1. Ender's Game was actually not one of my favourite summer reads...I thought it was kind of depressing (this from the girl who reads les Mis., I KNOW. :P) It was highly recommended to me by a friend, though...I just didn't like it, personally. Let me know what you think!

:) I always enjoy your stuff. I'm glad you're posting again!

  2. ahh can't believe it's gonna be September, craziness. hey, I've been reading through The Tempest too! (mostly because I was auditioning for it, hehe.) I hate that pleasure reading becomes so much harder during school, but I love when I get around to it all the same!

    1. I've only read a few pages from The Tempest (and I'm not sure how much time I'll have for it after school starts) but it sounds interesting! Hopefully I'll still have tons of time to read in September. :)
