Canada Day weekend - part 1

I never want to see another hamburger. Ever. Again. Thursday night, Saturday, Sunday, AND Monday we were offered hamburgers.
On Monday night I refused the meat and just had a sandwich.

But of course it was worth it. Sunshine all three days of the long weekend, beautiful beach sunsets, the weekly Scottish Pipe Band parade (that I forgot to take pictures of), rocky lake swims....
gah.
I just love this place.

After dinner on Sunday night (hamburgers!) our youngest cousin (who is destined to be a drummer someday. Perhaps when he grows taller than the drumsticks.) began his nightly routine -- pounding rhythms on the table.
So, naturally, the rest of us began to pound along.
And, right there in plain sight, my grandparents and aunts and uncles and siblings are all pounding the table and clapping their hands and mimicking his little-boy babble.
Which he loved.
And we were all laughing too hard to wonder "what will the neighbors think?"

Definitely one of the oddest things I've ever done.
Undoubtedly one of the funnest.
I love these people.

Waiting for fireworks was magical - I sat on a blanket spread on rocks, watching the numerous boats setting up on the lake. Fireworks are a to-do that the whole town attends.

We got there about an hour and a half too early so we could get good seats and watch the sunset and play in the water.
All of which we did, of course.

See that large black shape in the water? Yeah, we're not sure what it is either. A few people from the boats caught sight of it too.
I think it's the Loch Ness Monster, myself.
Just...maybe a little...lost.

to be continued...
