thrilling new ideas

There's nothing like the thrill of a new idea.

That moment when whatever it is I've been mulling over solidifies even somewhat - enough for me to move from just thinking about it to having the idea down on paper.

This idea isn't new, though. It's a twist on a very old one. In October 2010 I came up with two characters (Sophia and Anastasia, some of you know them already.) These characters were invented for fun - they had no story or supporting characters to go along with them.
After about a year, when I hadn't gotten tired of them yet, I realized that I wanted to do something with them eventually. So I kept playing around with them, busy with other things and content to wait for The Idea to knock on my door.

Only, the thing is, it didn't.

After having come to a place in my other writing projects where I can put down my pencil for a little while, I was ready to begin working on this story - only, I didn't have any ideas.
So, after waiting around for a few months, I got tired of waiting for the idea to find me and set out to find one myself.

I won't tell you what I found (because I'm hoping some of you will get a chance to read it when it's written), but I will say that it's very hazy. Unlike that perfect idea that somtimes bops you on the head, this is very rough and not in any way ready for writing.

But that's okay - I already know my characters, so I have plenty of time to get to know the plot. I'm really looking forward to working through the One Year Adventure Novel textbook for the 3rd time...it's been a huge help in writing my previous projects and I can't wait to see what it does to this new one.

And, even though I promised I wouldn't say anything about my idea, I'll give you a wee tad anyways. Because I can't resist sharing something so exciting.

It involves the elements (Fire, Water, Earth, Stone, and Air), a host of fantasy creatures that I'm super excited about, and an entire world governed by the lies of a fake prophecy.

Thoughts?

  1. No ice element? So close to Bionicle...

I think I want to read it. But I'm kind of scared of what reading Anastasia's story will do to me...

    1. Hahaha, you'll be fine. ;) It's told from Sophia's point of view, Anastasia's only an ally.

    1. I don't understand why you don't like her...no one else seems to have a problem with her. :P

    2. I never said I don't like her. But she's hyper. She reminds me of Logan 9.0, and so far I've only met Logan 2.0. (Logan is the most hyper kid I know. Until I met the next version. Each version doubles the hyperness of the previous version) Logan 1.0 and Logan 2.0 will get married to Logans 3.0 and 4.0. Their kids will be Logans 5.0 and 6.0. They will marry 7.0 and 8.0. 7.0 and 8.0 will get married and have Logan 9.0, who is Anastasia. According to my finance class, there are two kinds of people in this word. Free spirits, and nerds. I'm a nerd. Anastasia is a free spirit. It's not that I don't like her (I like Logan a lot) I'm just scared of her.
