the perfect day

Today was one of those heavy, cloudy, overcast days where you wake up and think, "I hope it storms this afternoon." Today is a day to feel emotion, to listen to music, to be at home in leggings and an old long-sleeve shirt,

Today is a day for writing.

rainy days cups of coffee, books or your fucking chores which u have to do, but u forget for all with one or two sips of coffe.:
not my actual view. I wish. via

Determined to get some quality work done, I closed myself up in my bedroom (usually I write at the kitchen table, aka the most busy/distracting place in the house), put on this playlist, and set a timer for 20 minutes.

After my time was up, I scrolled through my text messages, facebook, and fixed some of my work scheduling for this summer.

And then I put the timer on again.

It's just after lunch and I'm settling down for my third session (or fourth, I don't remember.) So far my word count is almost 2k for today, which is NOT THAT MUCH, I know, but it is something. And sometimes, you just have to take what you can get. So here I am, celebrating the perfect day for writing 2,000 words.

what are you celebrating? do you ever just LOVE a good stormy Thursday?

xx,
Olivia

  4. I love stormy weather. :) I typically don't write much more than, maybe, 1,000 or so words a day, so 2,000 seems pretty great to me!

  5. That sounds like a fabulous type of day. Those are the kinds of days I live for. Relaxed, cozy, stormy, and content. The world is most beautiful on those days, I think. (-:

  8. aah, those days are the best. Sounds like you're a lot more productive than I am, though! I usually just get distracted on the computer *cough* =) But your idea of setting time to do just DO IT sounds really good, I'll have to try it sometime when it rains!

    1. Autumn, ME TOO. YouTube/bloglovin/pinterest/email/google/literally everything is SO EXCITING and DISTRACTING sigh. But the timer really helped me! (And so did the playlist, tbh!)

  9. YES YES AND YES. I love a gloomy thursday at home. You are awesome for getting things done and pumping those words out (also the timer is a great idea- i agonize over the details). FEELING MOTIVATED. THANKS x

  10. Eeep, this post is so beautiful. :') And I LOVE writing when it's cold and rainy. It's can be so comfortable for some reason. Particularly with a hot drink. AH. THE WRITER AESTHETICS. *flails quietly* Ahem. And writing in bursts like that with breaks is an epic idea. I sort of do that! not with a timer? But like after I've written a certain amount of words, I let myself go on facebook or pinterest for a few minutes. It helps keep me motivated that's for sure. xD
