things that make me happy // 514-526

514. new sweaters
515. affectionate golden retrievers who just want to sit in your lap
516. reading an entire book in a day
517. singing with friends
518. swimming laps at work and feeling impressive
519. this cover of 'Hello'
520. getting the promotion I was hoping for - to Assistant Pool Manager!!
521. popcorn
522. sunny mornings
523. speaking at youth group
524. running around church with no shoes on
525. scarves
526. buying ice cream at midnight in the 24 hour grocery store, and then eating it with friends at a little table by the exit doors

It's a short list today, because for the sake of honesty I need to tell y'all that this week kinda sucked. I feel like Winter is sucking the colour out of every day and leaving me with nothing but black and white... I am so bored by the same routine every single day: wake up early, go to work, read for hours, go to bed. Repeat.
I need some people!! I've had four outings/meetings with friends cancelled on me this week and at this point I feel like the walls of my house are closing in (!!) And Spring feels like it will never come...

Do you ever have weeks like this? How do you cope??? Please send help.
Love,
Olivia

  1. I get you. I had one of those weeks recently, and they are just no fun. I recommend cozy blankets, a fun movie, and lots of chocolate. Because chocolate is life.

  2. OKAY HOLD ON. I JUST WENT OVER TO WATCH THAT COVER OF HELLO AND I CANNOT DO ANYTHING NOW. LIKE HOW FREAKING COOL. MY BRAIN CANNOT EVEN FATHOM THE AMOUNT OF PRACTICE THAT WENT INTO MAKING THAT THING. OMG. okay. I can move on now. maybe.

"buying ice cream at midnight in the 24 hour grocery store, and then eating it with friends at a little table by the exit doors" < I'M PRETTY SURE THIS IS FRIENDSHIP GOALS. Also life goals. Also something that needs to happen in a story someday... *takes note* AWw, girl, I just wanna give you a big hug! I know how those weeks can be, but trust me -- winter is almost over. RT GRACE ANNE ON THE REMEDY. x)

    1. I HAVE PROBABLY WATCHED IT FOUR THOUSAND TIMES. AND THE CYMBAL KILLS ME EVERY SINGLE TIME OH MY GOODNESS. They're unbelievable.

It was a pretty great night. :) And they're pretty great people. If you put it in a book and I read it one day on the bestseller list I will write you a fan letter immediately. (I'll write you a fan letter anyway, I promise! But if you include the midnight ice cream thing I'll write you two.)

  3. OK, first of all, just reading this list of thing made me happy. These are seriously beautiful things.
Second, I feel you, girl. Like, ugh. I just feel you. I really hate that feeling (especially in winter.. sometimes I feel like I'm gonna go crazy o.o) also when friends cancel plans last minute especially in a row it just puts you down in the dumps. ANYWAY, just realized I just repeated everything you said, but something that helps me is just to go out by yourself and decide you're gonna have fun and treat yo' self. It could be anything from shopping to bundling up in a coffee shop to anything else you're feeling up to! Sometimes just a change of atmosphere feels so good to me- even if I don't feel like it till I'm out. OR there's also always the lovely option of having a night in- treating yourself to a favorite snack or food, brewing some tea, and hiding away in your room with netflix/favorite movie and calling it a night. Either one's good. Or just take the extra time to spend some more time with Jesus (I'm not as great about this one..Hahah) Hope that helps! I'll be praying for you- spring's just around the corner!!!!!!!!! :)

    1. This month has been a weird combination of good things and "get me into summer, already!!" And sometimes I feel like I'm going crazy, too! Glad you feel me! :p And it's really funny that you should say that (treat yourself!) because I realized that legit two days ago. I woke up and was like, 'hey! guess what? no one else is responsible for my happiness... except me! huh.' and since then I've been feeling a lot better! lol.
Thanks for commenting!!! It really helped. :)

  5. First off, WOW, that Adele cover. Is that ever something! Thanks for reccommending it. :D I also love #524 :) And congrats on your job promotion! I hate to hear that you're having a blue week. I've definitely had them, and they are the worst. What I do to get over them is pray/read the Bible, go for a run, talk to my family, watch a movie with my sister. Doing something physical or creative can really help. I'm praying that you feel better! Take heart. Exodus 14:14 :)

    1. YOU ARE WELCOME. I have listened to it approximately 10,255,611 times so I'm glad someone else loves it, too. :) And I love your list of things to do to feel better! That's exactly what I've been doing, too... and it is helping! The sun is shining today and I feel loads better. :)

  6. Only a few more weeks until spring! You can do this!!!
That said, it can be so incredibly hard to feel good when the weather's awful and there's not much to do. Starting a new project (writing, reading, cooking, knitting...anything) can help.

  8. Reading a book in one sitting is DIVINE. I love. *nods emphatically* I haven't head popcorn in years though and omg now I have an intense craving...
I actually really like routine and ruts, so I'm not much help. D: BUT I HOPE YOU GET SOME SUNSHINE AND WARMER WEATHER SOON!! And some people to do things with!!
