underestimated

Still waters may run deep, but don't hurricanes form
in the middle of the ocean?
The birth of a storm never occurs near the shore;
depth may be quiet, but power
needs room to grow.
because waves that crash against the sand
break;
it is in their nature.

Something cannot come from nothing,
and the kind of strength that
changes lives
remodels towns
and shouts into the howling wind that soon
nothing
will be the same
didn't start in three feet of beachwater.
Those waves may be noisy,
but they're child's play
sand castles and surfboards -
welcome to the tsunami.

Because the shallow-water waves may be noisy, and the deepest parts of the ocean may be as still as glass
but the storms have to come from somewhere, right?

thoughts.
xx,
Olivia
