NaNo week 1 // recap

Well, we've finished seven days of November... and here's how I did! (if you missed earlier details on my NaNo 2015, you can find them here)

Chapters completed: 2+1/2
Word count: 12, 471
Week 1 Quote:

If I close my eyes and focus on one particular sound, I can almost hear it still. At first, right after the accident, I thought it meant my hearing was returning, thought that against all the odds I’d really managed to catch the sound of the wind blowing through the trees, the water running in the sink, or my little sister calling my name.
But they were just phantoms, here and then gone again like shadows in the night.

This was basically my thought process this week --

*finishes writing chapter 1 and stares at computer screen* Why did Aunt Kay decide to move to Africa this was not in the outline my life is over

*sits and stares at computer without writing anything*
Hey, I wonder what my word count is? *sheepishly discovers that it's exactly the same as it was when I stopped writing*

Why does it take less than 30 seconds to scribble down the first 100 words, but almost 30 minutes to grind out the last 100 of the day? WHY???

*eagerly writes blog posts to avoid writing the last FORTY WORDS of day 3*
I am pathetic.

It's only week 1. I am never going to make it to November 30.

I LOVE THIS. WHY DIDN'T I DO NANO LAST YEAR? I HAVE BEEN WASTING ALL OF MY NOVEMBERS.

At the moment, I identify very strongly with Rapunzel.

How has your first week gone? Keep going -- you can do it!!

p.s.
Yes, I wrote this when I could have been writing.

      I think that's definitely it.
