(Technically, I was nowhere near 221B Baker Street... but this post does involve Sherlock Holmes-themed tea, PLUS it meant I could have an alliterated title, so-o...)
About a week ago, after I'd just finished one of my last exams (BECAUSE I'M DONE HIGH SCHOOL NOW, LET'S CELEBRATE) I got a very frantic text from Brooke asking me to please please please give her two hours of my time because she had a very cool thing to show me for my graduation present and would I text her back immediately, like now.
So, I begged the car from Mum and drove over to visit...to find that she had bought me a beautifully boxed set of Sherlock-themed teas.
I. Died.
There's an abrasive gunpowder tea for Sherlock, a warm Irish Breakfast for John, and I just CAN'T COPE right now. She'd also bought a giant collection of teas for herself (which is why I have a random picture of Merlin; it's a current obsession of mine and I just couldn't resist.) We spent almost two hours tea-tasting that afternoon - we'd fill up the bottom of our mugs and steep and re-steep, and after some thought, pronounce judgement.
A few days ago, when I was home alone, I made blueberry pancakes and pulled out my Greg Lestrade tea...the whole house was quiet, and when I'd finished eating, I lugged my giant Sherlock Holmes book to the couch, and drank tea, and watched the sunbeams play out across the street...
I recently purchased the gorgeous book pictured below...a 1122 page book of all four of Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes novels, and each and every one of his fifty-six short stories, and I am reading them ALL. I have it sitting on the bed beside me as I type, because I cannot keep my nose out of it. If you love the show (and even if you don't,) seriously, you must indulge. It's extra fun if you do watch Sherlock, because so much of the show is taken from the original stories...SO MANY QUOTES.
What's been going on in your lives? How do you feel about Sherlock Holmes? (the books? the show? is the idea of themed tea TOTALLY CRAZY, or what??)
p.s. here's the website where Brooke bought my tea! it's very cool, even if you just want to poke around for a bit. ☺

In other news, Summer programs at my outdoor pool are starting bright and early tomorrow morning, so my life is about to become totally crazy!! I can't wait. I'm teaching my first ever Leadership course tomorrow, and I'm a little nervous, but also totally excited.

Ha, that's so great! I love the package design. I've watched a few episodes of BBC's Sherlock, and read a few of the original stories. I actually have most of the stories though, so I need to make that a priority.
ReplyDeleteLydia, you absolutely NEED to read the original Sherlock Holmes! And finish the show! (all at the same time!) Haha.Seriously, though, they're soooo good. Definitely some of my all-time favourites!
DeleteMy sister just got that tea also! I think it's so cool! I love Sherlock Holmes- both the original stories, several movie versions, and the BBC show! :)

Lauren! This is awesome! What are the chances? And yayyy, another Sherlockian! Today is a good day. ;)
DeleteI think when tea is themed it makes it more exciting. I mean which sounds cooler? Irish Breakfast tea, or John Watson? I just think it's extremely amazing how people can match characters' personalities perfectly with a type of tea... or candle... or perfume... or anything!
ReplyDeleteAs for Sherlock, I adore the show, but I have yet to read the books... I will someday, though. Sherlock Holmes sort of blows my mind!
EXACTLY, Hannah. Girl, are we on the same page or what? I like to get dramatic and be all like, "hmmm, I can taste the intricacies of Lestrade's personality in the duskiness of the aftertaste on the very back of my tongue." You know? :p it just makes me feel impressive.
DeleteCongratulations on graduating high school! That is so awesome! :-)
ReplyDeleteI am sadly unacquainted with Sherlock Holmes...I've never read the books OR seen the show. But I keep hearing people rant about both, so it looks like one of these days I'm gonna have to.

Thanks Emma!! I'm just so happy about it. :)
DeleteALLOW ME TO INTRODUCE YOU. Please please please read and watch. Both. Either. Or. I don't even care! I adore them both to pieces and smithereens. :)
OH MY WORD that is SO darn cool!! How. Creative. Plus tea in general..<3 gahh. I love the pictures! Making me crave tea + pastries.
ReplyDeleteCONGRATULATIONS ON GRADUATING, OLIVIA!! May you celebrate with your whole heart, because you have accomplished SO much. You have worked hard, and you have learned, and spoken, and taught, and inspired. Never stop sharing that with the world! Keep writing, keep savoring every second of this awesome thing called life, and keep being the brilliant, fabulous, gifted YOU.
I KNOW I AM STILL DYING. Mmm I would love some pastry to go along with my tea...*mouth waters*
DeleteThanks so much for your kind words, Kate. ♥ Reading this was uplifting to me today.

Wow! That is the coolest thing ever, Olivia! Sherlock tea! :O What a great gift to get. The packaging is so cute!
ReplyDeleteI hate all things Sherlock, though. JUSTKIDDINGHEHEHEHEHE. Sherlock is life.
(sorry, I'm a bit hyper right now. Just drank my coffee.)
Hahaha, coffee is good! And I love hyper comments, although this one made me go "whaaat??" for about half a second. AND THEN I KEPT READING AND WAS RELIEVED. Sherlock is life.
DeleteThis tea!!! What a brilliant idea... honestly. I have never read Sherlock Holmes novels nor have I watched movies/series. My friend is super into it, but I've never tried it. It looks quite brilliant, though!! Also, congrats on graduating! You rock. <3
