I’m commonly known as Beecheerful (hi!). I consider
myself a writer but I’m not sure I should be allowed the honor of that title.
I’m also a musician. Should you meet me, you’ll discover that I’m crazy and
should be admitted to an insane asylum for murdering imaginary people in
maniacal ways.
How old are you?
I am fifteen, almost sixteen (less than a month till my birthday!)

How long have you
been writing?
I have been seriously writing fiction for almost six years now. I’ve been making up stories for even longer.

What kind of writing
is your favourite (poetry, short stories, novels) and why?
I prefer writing novels to poetry or short stories because I tend to ramble. Novels allow space for my crazy ramblings.

Which were you first,
a reader or a writer?
I was definitely a reader first, shocking my mother by reading some… uh… harder books at age 5. Since then, I have had to get glasses because I love reading so much. INFORMATION: READING IN BAD LIGHTING IS BAD FOR YOUR EYES.

What do you love
about writing?
I think my favorite part about writing is the fact that I can make up people and places. I love discovering more about my characters and where they live.

Is there anything
about writing that you particularly dislike?
Editing. I hate editing. I’m a lazy perfectionist person, so I like my works to be perfect the first time through. Editing reminds me that it wasn’t perfect. Silly of me, but true. Humph.

Do you often find
yourself dealing with the dreaded writer’s block? How do you deal with it?
I do with some stories. Sometimes, I’ll hit a dry spot and be completely non-creative (uncreative?) in everything. But usually, I’ll have two or more stories going at the same time. If I run out of ideas on one, I’ll switch to the other until I “feel inspired” again. I’ll also talk to my little sister (she puts up with a lot from me, but she also got to slap me as research, so I think it evens out).

Is it easy or hard to
share your work with others?
I do not like sharing my work with others, actually. Even though I hate editing, I know that many of my works should never see the light of day. Ever. So when people (other than my sister) ask to see my writing, my reaction is to typically make an excuse and forget about it. It’s a bad habit I’m trying to break.

What’s your biggest
fear when it comes to your writing?
My biggest fear is that I can’t make my characters real. I don’t communicate or understand people well enough to be able to pull them off convincingly. Or at least, I don’t think I can. I’m not sure. People say my characters have their own voices though. Who do I believe? o.o

Do you have a goal or
a purpose that you try to reach when you write? Is there a message that you
want your readers to come away with, or some way that you try to encourage
them?
I (finally) got a goal/purpose to reach when I write. A good ending. *solemn nod* What? You expected me to actually say something profound? O_O I usually write to deliver a message -- well, I try to, anyway. Again, I don’t communicate well enough with people to write encouragement. I can, but only if very moved.

The best piece of
advice someone ever gave me was –
Don’t be afraid to write badly. That, considering what you now know of me, is definitely a good thing to keep in mind.

Have you ever
considered the idea of putting down your pencil for good?
NEVER. WRITING IS MY PASSION IN LIFE. YOU CANNOT TAKE IT AWAY FROM ME. THIS IS MY ONLY FORM OF COMMUNICATION. NONONONONONONO.

Do you intend to pursue
a writing career? Why/why not?
*coughSeeAboveStatementcough*
*ahem* I have been looking into journalism as an option but I’m not entirely sure if I could make myself do it. I really do want a writing career, but I do need to support myself as well. So while I want to pursue one, I may not be able to. I don’t know at this point.

If you had to give a
beginning writer one piece of advice, what would it be?
Keep writing. It’ll get hard, but if it’s your passion, keep writing. Write, edit, write, edit, write, edit some more.
